07.29.2012 Making Disciples on the Other Side of the World

Mike K: So glad to be here with you. We have some slides – we want to show you some pictures and tell stories –
This is Kim – our 5th daughter - she is married to Jake – who is a pastor at The Chapel in Indiana. They have 5 kids 5 and under!
Here are some grandchildren – we have 18
People ask – why would you want to live on the other side of the earth – the next couple slides show why. We know about Jesus – but the folks over there don’t. We ask if they’ve heard of Jesus – and they say, maybe he lives in the next village over? – Or – they think it is a product in my bag –
He took all of our sins in his body on the cross.
Rev. 5:9 – 9 And they ^sang a new song, saying, "Worthy art Thou to take the book, and to break its seals; for Thou wast slain, and didst purchase for God with Thy blood [men] from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
He did it just as much for them as for us.
5 times Jesus said – Go into all the world and preach good news to everyone – tell everyone what I did for them. This comes in fits and starts – progress and setbacks – dark times for a Millennium from 500 to 1500.
Here is a slide of unreached/unengaged people groups. Unengaged means that not even one Christian has spoken to this people group about Jesus. This word is getting out more – and more churches and agencies are trying to at least engage them.
We live in the north part of India there - - there are 600 million who have never heard the gospel.
Every day – 22000 die – 21,560 die without Christ.
The Lord does not want anyone to perish – but God wants everyone to be saved (1 Tim. 2:4)
The more His heart is our heart – we will feel the same way – to do all that we can to see people saved.
Paul: I do everything for the sake of the gospel – by any method, any means. 1 Cor. 9:23
Just over 3 years ago – we decided to do the same thing – any and every means. We teamed up with Gospel film teams – it cost us $20/night to bring the film to a village. We would provide a biscuit and tea for everyone in the crowd.
We have 3 teams that do this now, and we’d like to have 300, because there are 600000 unreached villages.
100-200 come out – and then we have an altar call – they are broken and contrite – and come forward –
Here is my son preaching in colony #5 – it is the same colony where Mike’s son and daughter-in-law were ‘called into’ the police station.
When a white person raises his voice – people listen. He is holding an Evange-cube – like a giant Rubik’s cube with the gospel message on it.
Kids gather for Bible stories – and fix and stare in amazement – the word of God grabs their heart –
Hundreds of these kids are coming to Christ.
Next – we are training children to share the gospel of Christ (through OCC – Samaritan’s purse).
They learn the story – they practice, practice, practice.
They go home and tell the story.
Su: Here is a picture of Sonia – on the left – it has been really exciting – she went to Bible school for 3 years – sitting at home with her training with no idea how to win and build – sitting at home waiting – maybe for someone to call and offer her a job. We asked her to be our translator – she lived with us – and we would begin telling Bible stories to children. We were in 24 pocket neighborhoods. This began to expand – women started accepting Christ – she was the first of 4 translators who are extremely effective ministry partners.
She has discipled and trained them – what I am excited about – we are multiplying and affecting (effecting, in this case?!) generations.
Another gal – we went out sharing – and she said she had never done anything like this – but she is winsome and affects people – she has 15 training groups.
Chanda, on the right – we led her to the Lord – here is Chanda getting baptized – we baptize by every means possible – this is a laundry tank. She got baptized – and she has a training group of 3 boys- her cousins. Here is Bala - her mom. They have had an amazing impact on their neighborhood.
This is Bala’s husband and his relatives –and they have all gotten saved. People walk in and out of their homes and don’t even need an invitation – and they just walk in and sit on the bed. And hear the gospel and get saved.
I am NOT a motorcycle mama – but this is Kushy, another translator – and I trust her – and close my eyes and pray.
Kushy is a bible school graduate and has joined out team. She is very effective in problem solving – Sonia, Anew, and Kushy all get up and do amazing jobs like Billy Graham.
We have been following up a woman named Reshma – she has had many problems, but really loves the Lord. The Word of God really transforms lives. We were sharing the truth for 45 minutes – and she would smile like she wanted to hear it but not wanted to hear it – because she would have to make some changes. At the end of the time – she told us how God has worked in her heart and changed her – and her husband loves the results. This woman has helped to lead a neighbor to Christ – and she has an audio Bible that she listens to every day. Her neighbor is married to an alcoholic – and because of her testimony – the whole neighborhood is hearing the message. They are now open to hearing it.

We are on the street by 7 am – most guys work 12 hours/day, 7 days/week. Followup is difficult – we try to go in the morning to catch a few of the guys.
This family was struggling giving up their gods – even the commandments – and what have your gods done for you? These gods will hurt our children! Our God is greater – this is what they fear – if they turn to Jesus, these gods will attack and hurt them. We use the word of God to disarm this. There are 100,000 idol temples in my home district – God’s word broke through – and they are being baptized.
God’s word does its work – we have to keep sharing it.
We have kids help us distribute Gospels of John. An Austrian team came with 100,000 gospels of John that we’ve been trying to distribute. They love helping us get the word out.
This is a Proclaimer – an audio bible – with a crank to crank it – and a solar panel – and they can listen to the entire New Testament. They will give them to us free if we promise to give them to people who can gather a group and listen to it.
In India – the Muslims blast speakers at about 10 until 4 in the morning. We have speakers in the trees.
Ying Kai is a missionary to Hong Kong – and they were assigned to reach them.
2 Tim. 2:2 – Paul/Timothy/Faithful men/Others – 4 generations.
Ying Kai asked if he could train some of a Pastor’s people. Taught them to share their testimony – share the gospel – make a list – 5 names – and share your testimony to those 5 names – the next week they gathered – and there had been a lot of salvations. Then he taught a lesson – let’s prayerfully set goals for this next week – now pick another 5 names. And now, start your own group like this –
This was basically the model – providing – setting goals for sharing Christ – and righteous accountability.
In the past 12 years – 2 million Chinese have been saved. We have been sitting at their feet and learning. We are so thankful for these humble people of God.
He is up at 4 in the morning praying fervently. He leads 30 training groups – and that is his wife’s goal as well.
This is one of our trainers – he started as a translator – here he is training a crowd in the bridge diagram. After we draw the bridge – we have someone come up from the crowd to tell the story. There are no words on the diagram – they can’t read.
We give everyone a notebook and a pen – we can’t read! Just draw the picture – we have trained lots of them.
In order to reach India, we need to multiply workers fast. We need to start 5 Million house churches.
In the last 2 years – we have trained 12000 people at 140 locations in evangelism, follow up, discipling, and church planting. I sometimes get up at 2 in the morning to get to a training site – anyone who invites us – we try to get a trainer there.

Begun outreach in 630 villages
Shared the gospel to 91,500 people – of which 25,300 professed faith in Christ. – within a month.
If 1/3 did that in a month – how likely is it –
In 2012 –
1,000,000 reached
250,000 to profess Christ
6000 villages engaged
3500 churches started.
These are conservative estimates. This is what God is doing – we are shocked, amazed and humble that God would use ordinary people like us – when the Spirit of God is moving – something amazing is happening.
In India – there is 1.2 Billion people.
Thousands of years ago, white people – Aryans invaded India and imposed Hinduism on the people. The Aryans – we came from God’s mouth – you are dark, you came from God’s feet – you are only good for hard work – for thousands of years – they have been oppressed.
Upper caste – (forward) – 15.4 %
Backward – 56.6
Scheduled Castes – 18.1%
Tribal – 9.5%
Patrick Johnstone – The future of the Global Church – Some observers think that 300 million of the lower and scheduled castes may renounce Hinduism in this generation.”
Will they choose Buddhism, Islam, or Christianity?
The upper caste does not like losing their cheap slavery.
300 million people shifting from Hinduism – they don’t know about Jesus. If we can get the name of Jesus to them – they will have another choice – and this will be the largest people shift in history – we look into their beautiful faces every day – precious people who just need a chance – spiritually, socially, economically –
There are 3 ways you can help
You can sign up for our email list and PRAY – we need more prayer. Our teams are in danger. Happy John has a projector, and van – Happy has been stabbed, held at gunpoint – Hindus have crashed into our vans – and these guys are willing to go over and over. When American teams come, we don’t send them into those areas. That is the honor of partnering with people like this.
2 – you can come to India – we especially need longer term missionaries. If you come, you probably won’t die – if you drink the water, you will get diarrhea. You can come – and I am praying for lots and lots of teams.
Longterm – People who can learn the language.
Give - $30 per month will help support a full-time evangelist /church planter.
We train them – we coach them – we require them to report – and we stick with productive ones – we want people to know we won’t waste a penny.
In America – I read this somewhere – churches – cost 150,000 per soul saved.
In India – we’ve found that it costs about 5 cents for each soul saved. We need to deploy more workers and literature and Proclaimers and generators and projectors.
